Hunt Information:

NOW BOOKING FOR THE 2009 SEASON!

AREA HUNTED
The area we hunt is the Upper Highwood and the mountain ranges that surround it. this area runs from the Forestry Boundary Foothills area on the east to the Continental Divide on the west, which makes up the Alberta-British Columbia border. This area comprises hundreds of square miles of hunting area, all very mountainous. These mountain ranges and the lands surrounding them have been closed to any kind of motorized vehicles since 1977. The only practical way to get into and out of this remote mountain area is by horse.

PERMITS AND RATIOS
All hunts are one on one.

The number of non-residents who can hunt this area is very limited. The resident hunting in this high mountain area is also low due to accessibility limitations.

Our archery hunts are done during the first or second week of September. We tree stand hunt over mineral licks, as well as spot and stalk, and call, using horses to scout. These hunts can be very physical due to the rough country. It is important to be in the best shape you can be in. These hunts are horseback hunts in the high mountains out of comfortable tent camps. The altitude you will be hunting is from 5,000 to 8,000 feet.

HUNT ITINERARY
The hunts are fully outfitted. The only items you need to bring are your bow/arrows, good binoculars, your sleeping bag and personal effects. We pick you up at the Calgary International Airport (preferring that you fly in one day before the hunt) and take you to your prearranged accommodations where you stay the night before the hunt.

The next morning you get fitted to your horse, finish business and shoot in your bow. We then load up the horses and equipment and truck up to the trailhead in the mountains where we head into camp. Once in camp, make yourself at home in one of our comfortable tents complete with wood stove, cots, and foamies. Maybe even drop into the cook tent later in the day to see what Heather's cooking up! Enjoy your first meal in camp, have a hot shower and rest up for your week of hunting.

There is no hunting in southern Alberta on Sundays by law, so if we have a layover day in the mountain camp, you can try your hand at cutthroat trout fishing at one of the high lakes, or just catch up on your relaxing.

After the hunt, the last night will be spent back at prearranged accommodations. We will help you get your personal effects and trophy ready for flight (or a local taxidermist) and deliver you back to the Calgary Airport.
